Blake Pullman Burris, owner of Pelican Cleaners, presented his locally owned garbage-can and dumpster cleaning business to the Plaquemines Parish Council on Feb. 12 and asked the council to consider a pilot program or contract to deliver discounted bulk pricing for neighborhoods.
Burris described a self-contained trailer system with a heated-water sanitizing unit, a 350-gallon clean-water tank and a 300-gallon gray-water tank and said the process reduces harmful bacteria by an estimated 99% while using eco-friendly, biodegradable cleaning agents. He outlined monthly, bimonthly and one-time pricing with discounts for bulk neighborhood deployments.
Council members thanked Burris for the presentation, asked about insurance and franchise status and suggested possible coordination with solid-waste routes and neighborhood programs. Burris said the company is locally built and fully insured and that he would welcome discussions with parish staff about a pilot.
