Andalusia honors Mia Baumgartner after statewide Distinguished Young Woman selection

Mayor Earl v Johnson presented a City of Andalusia resolution on Feb. 17 recognizing Mia Baumgartner for academic and extracurricular achievements, including serving as president of the National Honor Society and yearbook editor. "Be it resolved that I, Earl v Johnson, on behalf of the city of Andalusia, Alabama, and all its citizens do hereby recognize Mia Baumgartner for her many achievements and extend to her our congratulations," the mayor read from the resolution.
The resolution notes Baumgartner is a senior at Andalusia High School, a senior company dancer with the Andalusia ballet, was named the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce student of the year, and was selected as Covington County's Distinguished Young Woman and Alabama's Distinguished Young Woman. The council and attendees offered congratulations and best wishes as she prepares to represent Andalusia, Covington County and Alabama at the national competition in June.
The council did not take any formal action beyond presenting the resolution. The recognition was placed on the record during the Feb. 17 meeting and the mayor offered personal congratulations and best wishes for the summer and the upcoming national competition.
