At its Dec. 16, 2024 briefing in the Porter Room, the Lockport Township High School District 205 Board of Education opened by recognizing student and community accomplishments. Dr. Bob McBride said the board congratulated a top girls swimmer/diver in the state, multiple young men who earned the Boy Scouts of Americas Eagle Scout rank, and the girls volleyball team for finishing third in the state.
McBride also announced operational details for the holidays: the district will take a two-week break starting Friday, Dec. 20, and staff are encouraged to "unplug" and spend time with family. He said the district will post on its website the days Central and East main offices and the district office will be open during the break.
The recognitions and scheduling notices were presented as part of routine board business; McBride said the board also approved policies and heard reports during the Dec. 16 meeting but focused the brief on the levy and community updates. He closed the message with holiday wishes and a rallying line for the school community: "Go Porters."
