Votes at a glance: Lockport Twp HSD 205 approves routine minutes, budgets, buses and a farm lease

The Lockport Township High School District 205 board completed a series of routine votes at its Feb. 20 meeting.

Minutes and financial reports: The board approved combined regular and closed‑session meeting minutes for Jan. 27 and the special meeting of Jan. 31 and then approved the treasurer’s report for January 2025. In each case the motion was moved and seconded (motions recorded as moved by Mister Theiss and seconded by Dr. Shaw in meeting remarks) and passed by roll‑call vote.

Calendars: Trustees voted to approve the 2025, 2026 and 2027 school calendars after a motion carried (mover/second recorded in the meeting notes). Student advisory feedback — including a request from the superintendent advisory council to consider a full Thanksgiving week off and to add Eid to the calendar — was noted during the discussion.

Procurement: The board awarded a bid for seven new school buses in a motion moved by Mister Thiessen and seconded by Dr. Shaw; roll‑call voting recorded affirmative votes from members present.

Farm lease: The board approved a renegotiated farm lease agreement that staff said included a roughly 32% rate increase informed by a soil productivity analysis and the district’s interest in preserving easement flexibility for potential future uses.
