Lockport Township High School board honors state‑level students; facilities supporters urge bond approval

The Lockport Township High School District 205 Board of Education opened the meeting by recognizing student achievements across athletics and the performing arts. Athletic Director Michael Dwire read resolutions honoring Olivia Matasek (third place, Cherry Bowl state final, 02/22/2025), Justin Wardlow (second place, IHSA boys wrestling, 03/22/2025) and Claudia Heaney (state champion at 135 pounds, 03/01/2025). The board applauded and adopted the recognition resolutions.
Administrators also recognized choir and band students who performed at the Illinois Music Education Conference and described upcoming public concerts. Board members and community leaders offered praise to coaches, music directors and volunteers; several said the recent state and regional results were "brag worthy." Superintendent Bob McBride and others invited the public to upcoming performances.
During public comment, Tim Seneve, speaking on behalf of the Facilities Master Planning Council meeting, told the board the council had unanimously recommended moving forward with a $15,000,000 life‑safety bond to replace the roof and repair masonry over two summers. He said the council represented the district’s three communities and that the plan included protections to avoid a new tax burden through early payoff or annual abatement, and that a comprehensive facilities plan would return to the board by September.
Board members thanked presenters and volunteers. The recognitions were followed later in the agenda by the formal approval of resolutions and votes on bond parameters and bid awards.
