At its Feb. 18 meeting, the Monroe County Public Library Board of Trustees approved several motions and elected officers.
Contracts and agreements: Martin O'Neill presented four annual KATS contracts (city, county, Ellisville and a memorandum of understanding with WFHB). The contracts carry modest increases (city 1%, county 3%, Ellisville 2%) and continue the KATS weekly government program; trustees approved the contracts by voice vote.
Policy updates: Tory Long presented a one‑line revision to the Code of Conduct to align with the library’s updated media relations policy. The new language states that photography and recording are permitted in public spaces on MCPL property provided they do not interfere with staff or patrons who do not wish to be recorded, including minors whose caregiver has not given consent; trustees approved the change by voice vote.
Remote work: Becky presented an updated remote work policy that formalizes approval authorities and clarifies that staff working remotely during an isolated branch closure must still clock in and perform work (different guidance applies when all branches are closed by a systemwide emergency). The board adopted the policy by voice vote.
Surplus equipment: The board approved a resolution to surplus retired computers at the request of IT so employees may purchase those items through the bookstore.
Elections: Trustees voted individually to elect Amy O'Shaughnessy as treasurer, Chris Hall to continue as secretary, Whitney Eads as vice president, and Jamie Burkhart to continue as president. Each officer was confirmed by voice vote.
Adjournment: The board moved to adjourn and closed the meeting.
