Covington council appoints youth-council members and makes arts and equity commission appointments

Council moved and seconded to appoint Serene (transcript spelling varies: 'Badomoh' / 'Badumabu' / 'Badumabu') to Youth Council position No. 1 with a term beginning immediately and expiring upon graduation. Members praised Serene’s outreach and inclusive ideas. The motion passed by voice vote.
The council next appointed Pranjal Saran to Youth Council position No. 3 with a term beginning July 1, 2026, and expiring upon graduation. The council also appointed Emily Leung (transcript alternately spelled 'Leung'/'Leong') to position No. 4 with a term beginning July 1, 2026. Council members highlighted Leung’s leadership, anti‑bullying proposals and extracurricular achievements in support of her appointment.
Separately, the council appointed Lisa Abara to the Arts Commission (position No. 2) with a term expiring May 31, 2028; members cited her arts‑education and community‑outreach experience.
