Buckeye Valley board meets in executive session, opts to post superintendent and treasurer goals online

The Buckeye Valley Board of Education convened an executive session to consider the employment and compensation of a public employee or official, then reconvened in open session and said it would post superintendent and treasurer performance goals on the district website rather than taking a formal vote.

When the board returned from executive session, the presiding speaker said, “These goals are going to be posted on the district website. We just spoke about them.” The board announced the superintendent’s goals would include developing a department of strategic communications and a comprehensive job description, completing a transportation stop-finder project, increasing community engagement and evaluating academic achievement and success. The treasurer’s goals listed included restructuring the human-resources department, managing a proposed middle-school addition, establishing a cybersecurity program for risk management, developing efficiencies in transportation and supporting high-school construction planning and forecasting.

Board members moved into executive session after a motion was made and seconded; the motion was approved by roll-call-style responses on the record. The meeting reconvened at 07:25, and the board discussed next steps for the goals but did not adopt them by vote.

The board said the policy committee would continue to work on bylaw wording and that any proposed changes would be reviewed legally before being returned to the full board for a future vote. No bylaw or personnel decisions were finalized during this meeting.

The meeting adjourned after the final motion to close the session was moved and seconded and the board voted to adjourn.
