Fiscal staff explained each proposed MSBU area and the number of properties affected: Charlotte County Sanitation Unit (63 properties), Barrier Island Fire Service (1 property), Charlotte County Fire Rescue Unit (4 properties), Greater Port Charlotte Street & Drainage Unit (83 properties), Grove City Street and Drainage (2 properties), Rotunda Meadows (1 property), Tropical Gulf Acres Street & Drainage (4 properties), South Charlotte Stormwater Utility (4 properties), and West Charlotte Stormwater Utility (1 property). No members of the public addressed the board for these items.
The board voted on each MSBU resolution in sequence; staff recorded unanimous passage on all items, with one vote noted 4-0 where Commissioner Truax briefly stepped out. Commissioners closed each hearing after hearing no public comment and adopted the related resolutions.
What's next: Staff will finalize assessments and notify affected property owners under statutory notice timelines; contracts or work funded by MSBU assessments will proceed per schedule and funding availability.
