Senate designates Feb. 20, 2026 as Colorado FFA Day

The Colorado Senate unanimously adopted Senate Joint Resolution 12 on Feb. 20, designating Feb. 20, 2026, as Colorado FFA Day.
The resolution, read at length on the floor, praised the national FFA organization — founded in 1928 and renamed the National FFA Organization in 1988 — for developing leadership, personal growth and career skills through agricultural education. It also recognized Colorado FFA’s role in supporting students in grades 7–12 and postsecondary members.
Senator Hemmings, speaking in support, drew on agricultural experience to highlight the program’s emphasis on stewardship and the daily responsibilities faced by farmers. "Some who are in FFA today will go on to become farmers," Hemmings said, adding that FFA fosters leadership whether students become farmers or pursue other careers.
Senator Pelton r and others introduced FFA-affiliated teachers and coordinators, and the Senate requested copies of the resolution be sent to the governor and state agriculture commissioner.
The resolution was adopted by voice and recorded vote (33 ayes, 0 no, 0 absent, 1 excused, 1 vacant).
