Senate clears consent calendar of supplemental appropriations, confirms governor’s appointments

Clerk read the consent calendar that included a stack of House bills providing supplemental appropriations to state departments — among them House bills 11-50 through 11-79 covering Agriculture, Early Childhood, Education, Human Services, Judicial, Labor and Employment, Local Affairs, Military and Veterans Affairs, Personnel, Revenue, State, Treasury and capital construction funding. Majority Leader Rodriguez moved for passage of the consent calendar on third reading.
During roll call several senators asked to be recorded as 'no' on specific bills. Senator Zamora Wilson requested to be recorded as a no vote on multiple House bills, and Senator Baisley asked to be recorded as a no on a set of bills. The clerk recorded the no-vote requests, and the chamber then recorded individual tallies as each bill was called; the majority of listed House bills on the consent calendar passed with the tallies announced on the floor.
The chamber also read and confirmed several governor appointments on the consent calendar, including reappointments to the Financial Services Board and members of the advisory committee to the property tax administrator. The Senate confirmed the appointments by recorded vote (33 ayes, 0 no, 1 excused, 1 vacant).
