John Mueller, director of Facilities Management & Real Estate Services, said the parcel contains a drainage pond and worn informal trails; a previous 2021 outreach left questions about design and naming of the trail alignment.
Mueller said a FishHawk developer remains interested in offering a constructed trail in exchange for a utility easement; staff proposed renewed community engagement to examine safety, traffic and maintenance concerns, and to consider shifting maintenance risk away from the county. The board voted unanimously to authorize community engagement and to return with recommendations on future use.
What’s next: county staff will conduct outreach to adjacent neighborhoods and report back with options, expected costs, and any proposed agreements with developers.
