EPC debuts searchable public data portal to streamline records access

Chris Bolland, of EPC’s administration division, demonstrated the commission’s new public data portal during the Feb. 19 meeting, describing it as a tool to make EPC data and documents easier for the public to access. "Now anybody can open up the data portal and search for a project," Bolland said, describing quick, advanced and map-based search features and explaining that portal data are refreshed nightly.
Bolland said the portal currently exposes 16 datasets and supports searches by project name, applicant, business name, street name, folio number and project number; map-search results display project details and links to downloadable documents where available. He cautioned users that the portal does not replace the official public-records request process: older paper records or data stored only on EPC servers may not be indexed, and the portal does not search EPC email. Bolland thanked the development team, including Jason Scolaro and Dr. Sean Landry of the University of South Florida Water Institute, for their work on the project.
Commissioners moved to receive the report; the motion carried 7–0.
