Summary

During the afternoon session the Senate took several additional routine and ceremonial actions.
The Greenville County delegation reported favorably on Cheryl C. Brewer for magistrate; the Senate confirmed the appointment by voice vote. The Senate adopted a concurrent resolution approving the design and site for a Robert Smalls monument as required by law and adopted other ceremonial resolutions, including a request to name an intersection in Spartanburg County in memory of Chief Robert E. Brown Sr.
The reading clerk also transmitted a message from the governor returning R91 S623 with a veto; that bill sought to exempt Georgetown County from building requirements tied to the moderate wave action line. The Senate placed the governor’s veto on the calendar for further consideration.
A number of other committee amendments and carryovers were addressed on the calendar; several amendments were carried over for later consideration and several bills were carried to the special-order section.
