Solanco SD adopts updates to weapons and attendance policies tied to state omnibus bill

The Solanco SD school board on Jan. 26 adopted two policy updates originating from recent state omnibus legislation.
Doctor Dangler presented the second reading of Policy 218.1 (weapons), saying the revisions add mandatory parental and staff notifications and an end‑of‑year reporting process required by Act 44 in the omnibus budget bill. He told trustees those were the only substantive changes in the policy.
On Policy 204 (attendance), Doctor Dangler said the update incorporates language tied to cyber‑charter students and provisions affecting students deemed habitually truant under the new state provisions. The intent is to align district policy with changes that accompanied the omnibus bill and budget.
Both second readings were followed by motions, and the board approved both policy updates by voice vote with no recorded oppositions in the meeting transcript.
