City staff reported two vendor quotes for wayfinding signs: one at $21,544 and another from Inno Laser at $16,711; installation was noted as not included in those figures. "Installation is not included," a staff member said during the workshop, underscoring that the presented totals reflect sign fabrication only.
Council members and staff said they met with college representatives about splitting costs. "UDOT has pledged half of the...the funding will be 50%," a council member said, describing preliminary terms that could leave the city and the college splitting the remaining half (a 25/25 split) if final arrangements follow that outline.
Officials said the existing lamp posts on First North date from the 1940s and need replacement to improve the city’s first impression for visitors. Staff requested time for costs and installation details; a council member moved to place the wayfinding package on a future council agenda for discussion and finalization so the city can move forward with planning and funding decisions.
The workshop did not produce a final vote. City staff said they will circulate full cost estimates for review and consider removing the item from consent so the council can discuss specifics at a subsequent meeting.
