RDC elects Rich Griswold president, keeps Al Myers as secretary

The Martinsville Redevelopment Commission elected Rich Griswold president and confirmed Al Myers as secretary during its meeting on Feb. 23, after welcoming a newly appointed member and reviewing ongoing projects.
Presiding member (Speaker 1) opened the meeting, called a moment of silence for the late board member Phil Deckard and introduced John Badger, whom the city council appointed to fill Deckard’s seat. "Phil was a good guy, helped us out a lot," the presiding member said.
Speaker 4 moved to approve the slate of officers, amending the motion to name Griswold president, Speaker 4 vice president and Al Myers secretary; a second was given and the presiding member called for ayes. The motion carried.
The commission also took up routine procedural matters, including minutes from November and claims dating from the prior month. Members signaled that several items carried over from November might be deferred until a later meeting if a member who was expected to attend (Paul) did not appear.
The meeting concluded after a year-in-review summary of the commission’s projects and an adjournment by the presiding member.
