Board approves consent items and several policies, honors long‑time employees

The Gettysburg Area School District board took routine board action on consent items and multiple policies and used the meeting to acknowledge staff service and student achievement.

After hearing from board member Kathleen, the board recognized two retirees: Tamela Becker, a James Gettys kindergarten teacher with 31 years of service, and Chad Decker of the Technical Education High School with 25 years of service. The president also congratulated the district's early graduates for fulfilling graduation requirements.

The board approved a group of consent items (agenda, financial report, early graduates and human‑resources recommendations) and later approved policies 6.1–6.6 (including policy 100 comprehensive planning, policies on discipline and confidentiality for students with disabilities, policy 146 on student services, an ACTI nursing agreement for 25–26 and an MOU for the workday calendar tied to the Gettysburg Area Education Association). A motion to take these items as a block was made and seconded; roll call produced unanimous approval.

Board members thanked the policy committee and staff (Dr. Dalton was singled out for consulting on policy review) and asked for updates or redlines to appear in future materials where appropriate. The board also noted committee meeting scheduling changes for the finance and facilities committee and upcoming public events in programming reports.
