The Novi Community School District Board of Education approved two personnel reports and confirmed an administrative hire during the regular meeting.
Under Personnel Report A, the district recorded several resignations and retirement notifications, including Rebecca Chien Keshian (Novi High School counselor), Carrie Grama (fifth-grade teacher at Novi Meadows), William O’Donnell (high school math teacher), Dexter Gatson (bus driver), and Deborah Bowen (adult ESL teacher, retiring effective May 28). The board moved to adopt Personnel Report A and the motion carried unanimously.
Personnel Report B recommended hiring Dennis McBride as the district’s new director of secondary special education, effective March 2. Mr. Mica summarized McBride’s background in special education leadership and compliance in neighboring districts and educational service agencies. Trustee Manna moved to adopt Personnel Report B; the motion was supported and carried 7–0. Dennis McBride addressed the board, thanking trustees and stating his priorities to “continue to build the academic excellence here in Novi” and to focus on relationship-building with staff.
The board noted that retirees and other personnel changes will be formally recognized at the district retiree celebration later in the year.
