LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. — The Legislative & Intergovernmental Relations Committee on Nov. 20 approved its meeting agenda and a Sept. 15 action letter by unanimous roll call votes and heard no public comment.
A member moved to approve the agenda and a second was recorded; the roll call recorded ayes from Council member Shields, Chairperson Carlisle, Mayor Baird and Council member Funk and the motion carried. Later the committee moved to approve the Sept. 15 legislative committee action letter; that motion was also seconded and approved by the same recorded ayes.
The committee then proceeded to continued discussion of 2026 legislative priorities and whether to retain a federal lobbyist to pursue funding for potential I-470 improvements. No formal action on lobbying was taken.
Next steps: The committee asked staff to make formatting edits to the draft legislative priorities document and to circulate a fuller list of federal lobbyist options and fee comparisons ahead of the December meeting.
