Resident urges Emmaus council not to vacate Perky Omen Street green space

Chris Romig of 450 South 2nd Street told the Emmaus Borough Council he and his neighbor oppose vacating a small green parcel on Perky Omen Street and asked the borough to leave it intact. "We're asking the borough to vote no on vacating that property and leaving it to remain as it is," Romig said.
Solicitor staff and council members told Romig that no council action was scheduled for the meeting and that the process for vacating a street involves committee review and possible legal steps. A solicitor advised Romig to seek private legal counsel and said the property owners' letters opposing the vacation were included in the council packet.
Council members indicated the Health, Sanitation and Codes committee will consider the matter and make a nonbinding recommendation to council. Councilman Brown said the committee would review the situation and forward a recommendation; no formal vote or decision was taken at the meeting.
