City staff used the meeting to share several community notices and informational items.
Ward Road meeting and closures: The city will host an in‑person public meeting about the Ward Road Improvements Project on Thursday, Feb. 12, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at City Hall (come‑and‑go format). The Ward Road project will reconstruct Ward Road from NW O'Brien Road to Blue Parkway to a two‑lane cross section with bicycle lanes and sidewalks on both sides. The intersection of NW Ward Road and NW Blue Parkway is set to close Friday, Feb. 13 and remain closed "until approximately June"; a section of NW Blue Parkway between NW Executive Way and NW Ward Road will also close while a roundabout is constructed.
Traffic signals presentation: Staff described how the city's traffic signals operate, explaining controllers, detection systems (primarily cameras mounted above signals that "don't record video or your speed," but detect vehicle presence) and conflict monitors that put intersections into flashing mode if unsafe patterns are detected.
CIP and committee updates: Councilmember Pryor summarized the Public Works Committee, noting a recommended bid award for traffic calming on Lake Drive (construction expected this spring), discussion of the FY27 Capital Improvement Plan, and a 2025 change‑order summary showing about 1.2% in change orders for the year plus a property interest acquisition summary with "99.7" percent of acquisitions without condemnation.
City facilities will be closed on Monday, Feb. 19 for President's Day, staff reminded the public. The Ward Road public meeting is intended as an opportunity for residents to ask questions and view project materials; staff said there is no formal presentation planned.
