Montgomery Township’s Board of Supervisors approved its consent agenda Nov. 11, which included minutes from prior meetings and payment of bills, by voice vote.
The board then introduced and swore in Ryan Varela as a recruit police officer in the Montgomery Township Police Department, effective Nov. 11, 2025. Township staff summarized the hiring process: 71 applicants applied, and the recruit completed required academy and certification steps. Varela took the official oath on the record.
Separately, staff introduced township resident Paul Mao (submitted as an applicant for the Environmental Advisory Committee). Mao described his sustainability and technology background and service on prior local sustainability efforts; the board moved and approved his appointment for an existing three-year term expiring Jan. 1, 2028.
These personnel actions were taken by motion and voice vote during the regular meeting.
