Montgomery Township swears in new officials, appoints auditor and recruit police officer

Montgomery Township completed its reorganization and several appointments during the Jan. 5 meeting.
The board administered oaths to newly elected officials, including Alan Malachowski and Winter Morris as auditors; Tina (Stone/Stahl) as tax collector; and supervisors sworn for their terms. Following the pledge and nomination process the board elected Tanya Bamford as chair for 2026 and Beth Staub as vice chair.
The board moved to appoint Alan Malachowski to fill a vacancy on the township board of auditors effective Jan. 5, 2026, to serve the remainder of the term vacated by Eric Pelletier; the motion was seconded and carried.
In police business, Chief William Peoples described a multi-stage recruit hiring process that drew 31 applicants and recommended Hannah Klobberdance as the top candidate. The board appointed Klobberdance as a recruit police officer effective Jan. 6, 2026, and administered the oath of office; she affirmed she would enforce the laws of the commonwealth and discharge officer duties with fidelity.
Other routine reorganization matters — including certification of the township’s delegate to the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors (PSATS), appointment of liaisons to township committees, and the adoption of the township holidays and meeting schedule — were carried by voice vote.
The board adjourned the reorganizational session and convened the regular action meeting to continue business.
