Towamencin supervisors approve $2.32 million in payments, authorize $500,000 sewer grant application

Towamencin Township supervisors unanimously approved a warrant list totaling $2,321,860.16 at their April 23 meeting, covering payrolls, insurance, escrow closeouts and capital work including $265,475 for Griswold Park improvements and $14,232 for a police drone and broadcasting system. "The warrantless this evening totals $2,321,860.16," Mister Chairman said when presenting the list.
The board also approved Resolution 25-23 to apply to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) for up to $500,000 to fund phased replacement of an 18-inch asbestos cement sewer interceptor along Skipback Pike. Supervisor Snyder moved to approve the resolution and Supervisor Warner seconded; the motion carried 4–0.
Other formally approved actions included acceptance of a right-of-way dedication required by a prior land-development waiver; approval of Change Order #3 for NICE Construction Services on the Weickel Road project for $13,728.40; and authorization of an $11,000 engineering proposal to design replacement storm-sewer work at 2048 Spring Valley Road, with construction to be bundled with adjacent storm-sewer projects. All votes were recorded as unanimous.
The board also authorized two requests to PennDOT: a letter requesting an evaluation of truck restrictions on Bustard Road (prompted by resident safety concerns near National Elementary School) and a formal request for a brake-retarder study on Old 40 Foot Road to assess whether restrictions are warranted for safety or noise reasons.
Separately, the board directed staff to advertise for public review a proposed amendment to Chapter 127 (Sewers), Part 3, to establish a maintenance program for on-site disposal systems, require pump-inspection permits every three years and place inspection responsibility with property owners. The advertisement step is procedural; no ordinance adoption vote occurred at this meeting.
The meeting closed after public comment and routine announcements; the board adjourned after a unanimous motion.
