Towamencin adopts emergency operations plan; board to advertise 2018 International Fire Code

The presenter said the plan is a working document that will be reviewed periodically and updated to remain in compliance with the National Incident Management System.
Following the presentation, the board adopted the EOP by resolution. The Fire Marshal said the township’s current fire‑code reference dated from 2000 and that the solicitor drafted an ordinance to adopt the 2018 edition of the International Fire Code (as amended). Presenters noted a 2024 edition exists but said municipalities commonly adopt a code edition that aligns with the state uniform construction code timetable; the board authorized advertisement for the proposed ordinance and will consider adoption on Feb. 12.
Board members asked whether the 2018 edition addressed electric‑vehicle charging; staff clarified that EV charging is in the building code rather than the fire code. The board approved the advertisement of the ordinance for public consideration and committed to further review before final adoption.
