Bond oversight reported the CTE center received temporary certificate of occupancy and staff moves are underway; projects including HVAC, roofing and solar PV across multiple campuses are on plan and a CTE fundraiser Jan. 23 aims to raise $175,000 with a free ribbon cutting Jan. 24.
The bond oversight committee told the David Douglas School District board on Dec. 11 that bond-funded projects are progressing across the district and highlighted the CTE center, which received a temporary certificate of occupancy the week of Thanksgiving and is on track for final occupancy.
Derek Morgan, project manager with R and C Management, and bond oversight chair Lisa Stormler said furniture is in place, staff moves are scheduled over winter break and crews will complete punch-list items. Several repair and renovation projects — including secure vestibules, roofing overlays and HVAC upgrades at Mill Park, Lincoln Park, Gilbert Park, Ron Russell and others — are in commissioning or procurement phases.
The committee reported the district is integrating intercom and lockdown systems with clocks and will provide training to site administrators and IT/maintenance staff. Morgan said procurement work was done early to avoid long lead times for equipment and materials and that permitting issues experienced in 2024 have been better managed this year.
The bond update also listed 2026 projects: HVAC upgrades for Mill Park and Lincoln Park, a solar PV installation at Mill Park (part of the state’s green-energy technology 1.5% requirement), and North Powellhurst administrative HVAC improvements. The committee emphasized these projects remain on schedule and budget at the time of the update.
Separately, the board heard about a district-hosted CTE fundraiser scheduled for Jan. 23 with sponsorship tiers and a paddle raise, intended to supplement the CTE center with technology and equipment beyond the bond scope; organizers set a $175,000 fundraising goal and will hold a free public ribbon cutting and tour Jan. 24.
Board members thanked the bond committee for on-site engagement and oversight and asked staff to continue updating schedules and budgets on the public website. No formal votes were required on bond project approvals at the meeting.
