Council approves minor updates to public power standards manual

The Brigham City Council on Feb. 19 approved amendments to the Public Power Standards Manual intended to align local practice with national electrical standards and to clarify equipment locations and materials for transformers and meter bases.
City staff described the changes as largely technical edits and “cleanup” to reflect current National Electrical Code (NEC) guidance and to codify internal practices for underground and overhead installations. Staff noted the manual governs Public Power infrastructure and does not supersede city code for building-interior or customer-sited solar interconnection rules.
Councilmember Chockle moved approval; the motion was seconded by Councilmember Hipp and passed by voice vote with no opposition noted.
The manual will guide contractors and Public Power crews on material specifications and placement; staff said they would publish the updated manual and notify local contractors of the changes.
