Navajo County’s Board of Supervisors on Sept. 9, 2025 approved a public-works contract to build a solar-powered equestrian crossing on Buck Springs Road (contract B25-06-019).
Public-works staff (Mister Fike) described the project as a solar-powered crossing in the County Club area that allows equestrians to remain mounted and push a button to stop traffic; the device is also usable by pedestrians. The project was advertised for bid, drew three bids, and AJP Electric submitted the lowest bid at $77,254.10, which the presenter said came in slightly below the engineer’s estimate.
Supervisor Weitzinger moved approval; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote. There were no recorded objections and no amendments. The board did not record additional funding details or a construction start date during the meeting; public-works staff said they would answer follow-up questions separately.
