Staff also described newcomer student supports: a three-phase intake-and-support model (intake, team planning and follow-up), partnerships with community organizations, and plans to expand supports for English learners. The district plans to pilot or expand a live-translation technology (referred to in the discussion as ClearConnect) to provide real-time translation for classrooms and to support content instruction for multilingual students.
Staff referenced state-level developments, including mentioning "Senate Bill 141" as a pending accountability item the district is tracking; staff said the bill and associated state guidance could change accountability methods and chart-of-accounts reporting and that the district is monitoring the implications.
Other operational updates included design progress on capital projects and a report that the district had organized about 35 community service projects across schools.
