Harris Township approves application for $450,000 LSA grant to buy regenerative street sweeper

Harris Township on Nov. 10 moved to apply for a Local Share Account (LSA) grant of $450,000 to fund the purchase of a regenerative air street sweeper. Staff said LSA grants are funded by Commonwealth gaming revenues through the Commonwealth Financing Authority and that no local match is required, so the grant would cover 100% of the cost.
Supervisor (Speaker 6) moved to approve Resolution 25-16 and Supervisor (Speaker 12) seconded. The board discussed MS4 crediting and inlet-cleaning benefits of the sweeper and approved the resolution by voice vote. Staff said awards are typically announced in late spring and that the township increased the request slightly above vendor quotes to account for inflation.
If awarded, the sweeper would add capability to clean inlets and support MS4 stormwater credit activities; staff said the equipment would also assist routine street maintenance.
