The Montgomery Township Board of Supervisors adopted ordinance number 25350 on Sept. 22, amending Chapter 230 of the township code to replace provisions for "relative quarters" with provisions governing "accessory family dwelling."
Township planning staff explained the amendment had been reviewed by the Montgomery County Planning Commission and the Montgomery Township Planning Commission; review letters and draft minutes were included in the meeting packet. The solicitor entered exhibits for the record (a copy of the ordinance, proofs of publication and county law library submission, and planning commission recommendations). No members of the public offered comment during the hearing and the board moved to adopt the ordinance as advertised.
Staff noted the amendment had been authorized for advertisement at the Aug. 25 meeting and properly advertised on Sept. 8 and Sept. 15 as required by local rules. With adoption, the text replacing the older "relative quarters" provisions will become part of the township zoning code, subject to the standard timelines and codification processes.
