Officials provided updates the board flagged as neighborhood priorities: Lorna from the Board of Water Supply outlined an expanded WaterSense rebate program (residential rebates of $150 for Energy Star clothes washers, $200 for WaterSense toilets and up to $400 for water‑smart monitors; higher commercial rebates also available); Casey Abe of the State DOT reported continued graffiti and trash abatement, pothole repairs after heavy rain and said a traffic‑branch study on red‑light camera prioritization should be completed late April–early May; and neighborhood representatives reported effective pig‑removal assistance from the Pig Hunters Association of Oahu and several contractors (Patty Jetty provided phone numbers).
Board members also discussed ongoing problems at 4041 Waialae Avenue (an unfinished/boarded property), trash and shopping‑cart debris collected in streams after storms, and multiple suggestions to improve enforcement and maintenance. Community race organizers gave permit and route notices for the Johnny Farber 10K (Feb. 1) and the HPH Women’s 10K (Jan. 25).
What happens next: the board will follow up on DOE’s Phase‑2 plan for the 22nd Avenue site, DOT will report back on red‑light camera study status in late April–early May, and HPD was asked to provide distracted‑driving metrics at a future meeting.
