US Army announces job fair and training schedule; local outreach reports homelessness contacts

Air Force Major Ryan Abella (representing the 599th Transportation Brigade and US Army Hawaii) said the next hiring fair is set for Feb. 9 at the Helemanu Military Reservation Training Room (08:30–14:00) and is open to the public; attendees can receive same-day provisional offers and should bring ID, two references and a resume. He also described ongoing training windows (ranger/jungle tactics and small-arms blank-fire exercises) and scheduled prescribed burns at Schofield Barracks April 13–19; approvals were secured from the Hawaii Department of Health Clean Air branch and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Separately, Sierra Martin from KWO Outreach reported combined November–December field contacts in Waipahu: 112 individuals encountered, 74 resistant to services, 15 households newly enrolled in the program and 12 people awaiting housing placement. KWO said volunteers will conduct a community sweep this Monday and that the nonprofit is hiring two outreach workers (contact: sierra.kwo@gmail.com).
Major Abella said some training may generate noise and thanked the community for support; KWO asked residents to help identify people in hiding so outreach teams can offer services.
