Navajo County recognizes employees and awards CARE scholarships

Navajo County used part of its July 24 meeting to honor long-serving employees and to present the 2025 CARE Community Scholarship awards.
Mr. Smith described the scholarship program, noting it was renamed the Janna Richards legacy scholarship in recognition of her work organizing scholarships for graduating seniors and earlier-career college students. "We renamed it the Janna Richards legacy scholarship," he said, adding that the program expanded eligibility to first-, second- and third-year college students and that this year the committee awarded three scholarships instead of two thanks to payroll donations.
Eric Scott recognized a group of employees for milestone years of service across county departments — multiple five-year honorees, several 10- and 15-year employees, and Jeff Lineberry in IT for 25 years. Staff invited recipients to the front for photographs and board members offered thanks and congratulations.
Board members thanked the staff volunteers and donors who support the scholarship program and praised colleagues for long service to the county.
