At its Feb. 17 meeting the La Paz County Board of Supervisors approved multiple items by voice vote, including grant-support resolutions, a community proclamation, a public-safety grant memorandum of understanding, a final plat and an internal governance policy.
The board approved the consent agenda (items 8(a)–(f) and 8(i)–(j)) by voice vote after pulling items 8(g) and 8(h) for minor language changes requested by county counsel. The board then amended and approved Resolution 2026-02 (supporting the Arizona State Parks State Lake Improvement Fund Program grant application) and Resolution 2026-03 (supporting the Arizona State Parks Heritage Fund grant application), inserting language clarifying that final grant acceptance will be subject to board approval of grant documents.
The board adopted Proclamation 2026-01 recognizing the Quartzsite Improvement Association’s 60th anniversary and thanking volunteers for community contributions. It also approved Memorandum of Understanding 2023-093-R3 to continue annual funding of $100,000 from the Arizona Department of Public Safety to the La Paz County Sheriff’s Office (no local match required, presented by a sheriff’s commander in the sheriff’s absence).
In land-use business the board opened and closed a public hearing on final plat FP2025-01 (APN 302-01-004) for Rio Colorado Ranch Estates Unit 1. Staff reported required notices were posted and no objections were received; the applicant said the subdivision will provide larger lots with water and power service and private roads maintained initially by the developer and ultimately by lot owners. The board approved the final plat.
Finally, the board approved a draft policy-development policy that sets expectations for county staff to seek legal and departmental review before bringing policy proposals to the board.
All approvals at the meeting were recorded as voice votes with motions, seconds and the chair calling the question; minutes show motions carried for each item.
