Silverton FFA students highlight national competition success, two‑star chapter award

Members of the Silverton High School FFA chapter told the board they earned national recognition and competitive placements at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis.

Chase Stoddard, chapter FFA president, said the chapter received a two‑star rating in the National Chapter Award program and thanked the community for support that made travel and program work possible. “We earned a 2 star rating in the National Chapter Award…this is a program that's designed to recognize the best FFA chapters in the entire US,” Stoddard said.

Travis Kinsey, the chapter treasurer, described the Ag Mechanics team’s journey — they advanced from state competition to nationals and placed second as a team; individual team members’ placements were also listed in the presentation. Aubrey, the chapter vice president, described competing on the national agronomy team and the hours of preparation required; students noted the events provide real‑world experience and confidence to explore careers.

Board members congratulated students and advisers and presented small gifts to student presenters who could not attend earlier. Administrators noted the chapter’s back‑to‑back national success and praised advisers Terry and Mrs. Baker for their support.
