Ferguson Township proclaims Arbor Day, Bike Month, Public Service, Police and Public Works weeks

The Ferguson Township Board of Supervisors on Tuesday adopted five community proclamations recognizing upcoming observances and events.
Chair opened the meeting and read proclamations designating April 26, 2025 as Ferguson Township Arbor Day, May 2025 as Bike Month, May 4–10 as Public Service Recognition Week, May 11–17 as National Police Week, and May 18–24 as National Public Works Week. Each proclamation was moved, seconded and adopted by voice vote.
An arborist who attended the meeting described the Arbor Day celebration, which will be held at Haymarket Park and include a tree walk led by Mark MacDill, tree-seedling giveaways and family activities. A representative connected with regional cycling outreach urged drivers to observe a four-foot passing distance when overtaking bicyclists and said she will attend Arbor Day events to share safety information. Police representatives in the room thanked the board for community support during the department’s busy patrol shifts. Board members also thanked public works staff and partner agencies for recent storm response and infrastructure work.
The proclamations carry no regulatory effect; they are intended to publicize local events and encourage resident participation. The board recorded each proclamation as adopted and invited residents to consult the township calendar for event details.
