Ferguson supervisors approve road-naming, back park stormwater project and schedule dealership hearing

Ferguson Township’s Board of Supervisors on Jan. 20 approved a set of routine and project-specific actions, including a unanimous resolution to name a private access Tillage Road, authorization to submit a letter of support for a park stormwater project, and authorization to advertise a conditional-use public hearing for a dealership.
The meeting opened with routine items and public comment before the board approved the consent agenda, including the treasurer’s report and the Jan. 5 minutes, on a voice vote after a motion by Patty and second by Matt. The board then conducted a public hearing on a proposed private access name. Planning staff said Centre County 911 requested naming unnamed private vehicle accesses to improve emergency response; no members of the public spoke during the hearing. Trevor Allen moved to adopt the resolution naming Tillage Road and Patty seconded; the manager called the roll and each member voted yes.
Later, the board considered a request from the Spring Creek Watershed Commission and partners to authorize the manager to send a letter of support for a regenerative stormwater conveyance project in Tudek Park. Presenters said the project is intended to stabilize an eroded ephemeral channel, reconnect flow to the floodplain, improve groundwater recharge and reduce pollutants reaching a nearby sinkhole; they noted the group plans to submit a Susquehanna River Basin Commission stormwater mitigation grant at the end of the month. Mister Heller moved to authorize submission of the letter of support; Miss Stevens seconded the motion, and the board passed it unanimously.
The board also authorized staff to advertise a conditional-use public hearing for construction of an additional dealership and a car wash at 1703 West College Ave, with the planning commission expected to meet Jan. 26 and the township public hearing anticipated on Feb. 17. Miss Stevens made the motion to authorize advertising; Mister Heller seconded and the motion passed by voice vote.
The board regularly addressed administrative and departmental reports during the meeting, including a manager-recruitment update and a stop-work order issued to a broadband contractor (Glo Fiber) for permit-related violations. No formal votes were recorded on enforcement actions during the meeting.
The meeting closed after committee reports and communications. The board adjourned at the end of its agenda.
What’s next: The planning commission is scheduled to consider the land development and conditional-use application on Jan. 26, and Chief Wilson will present a police classification report at the board’s Feb. 3 meeting.
