Center Safe’s executive director joined the Harris Township meeting by Zoom to summarize services offered to victims and survivors across Centre County.
Jennifer Penzik said Center Safe, formerly the Centre County Women’s Resource Center, has operated since 1975 and provides emergency shelter, housing programs, counseling, advocacy, accompaniment to court or hospitals, free legal support and a child's access center in Bellefonte. She said the agency serves thousands of people a year in the county and noted some services are funded in part by the Centre County United Way, which supports the volunteer program and the child's access center.
Penzik said Center Safe offers services to all genders and ages and highlighted the organization's role in outreach, education and crisis response. Supervisors thanked her for the presentation and asked no substantive follow-up questions during the meeting.
What's next: Center Safe will continue outreach to townships; staff and supervisors expressed appreciation and signaled willingness to coordinate on community outreach and potential volunteer supports.
