The Montgomery Township Board of Supervisors approved a contract to retrofit the Community & Recreation Center parking lot lighting and heard a multi‑year parks renovation proposal for the Windle Street Farmhouse.
Township manager Carolyn McCreery presented a Stouch Lighting Solutions proposal to replace decade‑old solar parking lights with downward‑facing LED fixtures and showed before‑and‑after imagery. The Stouch proposal totals $236,871.86; staff said $220,000 had been included in the 2026 budget and recommended the LED retrofit primarily for visitor safety. After resident questions about glare and funding offsets, the board approved contracting with Stouch Lighting Solutions.
On the Windle Street Farmhouse, staff reviewed concept renderings prepared by Phillips & Donovan Architects and said Gilmore & Associates would assess site requirements — particularly a bridge crossing — and provide updated cost estimates needed for grant applications. Maura Giordano, co‑chair of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee, said the committee supports pursuing grants and suggested forming a nonprofit ("Friends of Windle Street Park") to facilitate fundraising and solicit larger private donations. Board members generally supported moving forward with nonprofit formation and directing staff to refine cost estimates and grant timelines before committing township capital funds.
Quote: Parks board co‑chair Maura Giordano said the renovated space "can be used for meetings like this" and for classes and community programming, arguing the farmhouse would expand the township's available community space.
Staff will obtain updated engineering cost estimates for site/bridge work and advise the board on the feasibility and timeline for grant applications and nonprofit formation.
