Summary
Village Arts Factory community program director Kevin Ryan outlined a series of upcoming exhibits and workshops, including the 'Second Glances' exhibit through Feb. 28, a March pop‑art show, a film series with themed refreshments, workshops and family events.
Village Arts Factory community program director Kevin Ryan said the gallery is featuring “Second Glances,” the nonprofit’s fourth annual exhibit of winners from the Canton Township fine arts awards and additional works by those artists. "This exhibit is called Second Glances," Ryan said, noting the show brings together nine award-winning artists whose pieces were announced last October at the Village Theatre.
Ryan said the exhibit runs through Feb. 28; the gallery is open during building hours (Mondays–Saturdays, 9 a.m.–7 p.m.) and admission is free. He recommended visiting to see the expanded presentation of each artist beyond the single award entry.
Looking ahead, Ryan previewed a pop‑art exhibition for March featuring three local artists, each expected to show about 12–14 works that use collage, painting (acrylic, oil, watercolor) and pop‑culture imagery. He also described a winter film series called "Classics and Cocktails," a partnership with the Village Theatre that pairs a pre-show talk with themed snacks and a paid cocktail: "these films are just $8 a person," Ryan said, adding that the series runs through March and will close with The Thin Man.
Other programs Ryan highlighted include a new line‑dancing night (pre-registration at villageartsfactory.com), "Romancing the Book" in partnership with the Plymouth Canton Community Literacy Council (an adults‑oriented craft and trivia evening), an assemblage art workshop with Dan Zuber on March 1 (1 p.m.–4 p.m.), a colored‑pencil class with Dean Rogers and a conservation‑focused "Wildlife in the Village" family event geared roughly to ages 5–12. A jazz‑inspired abstract painting workshop led by local artist Kathy Cousins and a 24‑hour playwriting festival that features audience voting also form part of the season’s offerings.
Ryan said tickets and registration details are available at villageartsfactory.com. The arts organization is offering a mix of free gallery access and modestly priced ticketed events aimed at families, adults and emerging artists.
