The Colorado Forest Health Council voted Oct. 29 to adopt a 30-year vision for forest health (the "2055 vision") and asked staff to begin a coordinated public rollout and work plan for implementation.
Becca Smolsky, who led drafting and stakeholder engagement on the vision, summarized changes made after public comment, including new actions to build local capacity (conservation corps, crews and internships), to make monitoring data available across ownerships and to promote forest-product market development. "I hope we're going to get to something that you can start using instead of just talking about what it looks like," Smolsky said during her presentation.
