Glenarden City Council confirms Brian M. Wood as city manager

Glenarden City — The Glenarden City Council on Feb. 17 approved Resolution R-25-2026 appointing Brian M. Wood as city manager.

The council moved to consider the resolution after it was read into the record. Councilman Cross moved the item forward and Councilman Herring seconded. During discussion, Councilwoman Jones said, “I would like to see the contract. I haven't seen that,” and asked staff to forward the final signed copy to council. The city manager said staff would provide the final signed document to the council.

The resolution, sponsored by the council and presented during the meeting, cites authority in the city charter for the appointment and specifies that the city manager shall perform the duties set forth in charter section 502. It also states that, because Wood had been serving as assistant city manager, his appointment is approved and "is not contingent upon the successful completion of a fingerprint, background, and drug screen test" pursuant to the charter authority quoted in the reading.

Council members voted on the resolution after discussion. The motion to approve was carried in the meeting and the chair stated the resolution took effect upon adoption.
