The district's construction manager reported roofing, HVAC and MEP work underway at East Heights with interior finishes expected in 2–3 weeks, and said work at South Middle is ahead by two to three months in certain areas due to staff cooperation.
HENDERSON COUNTY — At the Feb. 16 meeting the district's construction manager provided an update on capital projects: East Heights is installing roof systems and mechanical/electrical/plumbing infrastructure and will begin interior finishes in the coming weeks; South Middle continues to progress and is ahead of schedule in some areas.
"East Heights is obviously tracking along. Anybody who's driven by, you can see the roof is going on as far as inside," the construction manager reported, adding that interior drywall, paint and ceiling grid work will begin in two to three weeks. The manager credited cooperation from school staff for allowing access to areas originally scheduled for summer work, which helped recover time lost earlier in the schedule.
The board asked about temporary heat on site and the manager said heaters and tanks are staged and will be used as needed.
The update closed with a general expression of appreciation for site staff and district personnel who supported the construction effort.
