Belleville police honor telecommunicator and detective for 2025 work

Acting Police Chief Mark Heffernan used time during the Feb. 17 council meeting to recognize two department employees for 2025 achievements.
Heffernan named telecommunicator Josh Petrovsky the department's civilian staff member of the year, saying Petrovsky "consistently goes above and beyond" and played a key role coordinating with out-of-state agencies during a multi-jurisdictional juvenile abduction investigation to help secure the safe recovery of a child.
Detective Aaron Ackland was named detective of the year for his role in complex narcotics investigations and operations that led to seizures of illegal drugs, firearms and more than $200,000 in U.S. currency. Heffernan also noted Ackland's leadership role on the St. Clair County Regional Special Response Team and credited him with professionalism and contributions to public safety.
The council recognized the award recipients during the presentations portion of the agenda; no action items were required for the recognitions.
