Hibbing council moves local affordable housing aid into city housing trust fund

The Hibbing City Council approved a transfer of local affordable housing aid into the City of Hibbing’s Local Housing Trust Fund and authorized automatic transfers of future allocations.
Community Development Director Betsy Olavante presented Resolution 24-0904 and said the city had received $66,896 in local affordable housing aid in 2024 and expects the 2025 allocation to drop to about half that amount. She said the funds are suited to projects the Local Housing Trust Fund is designed to implement and recommended moving the current and future local housing aid into the trust fund.
Council approved the resolution by voice vote. Olavante noted she worked with Finance Director Sheena Momin on the proposal.
