The clerk read the consent items, which included accounts payable checks numbered in the 181900s totaling $870,517.59, a second accounts payable listing totaling $46,430.45, and city payroll for the pay period ending Jan. 9, 2026, at $659,333.08. The consent list also included approval of a 2026 street sweeper lease for $29,000, authorization of a surplus vehicle, and approval for the mayor to sign a letter from the National Mining Association regarding mineral withdrawal. The council approved fees and liability coverage limits with reference to Minnesota Statute 466.04 and accepted a two‑year maintenance agreement for the municipal golf course operator.
Other items approved included out‑of‑state travel for personnel to attend training (some costs covered by the Department of Homeland Security), seasonal special event permits (vintage iron on the range, Blue Jacket Extravaganza), liquor license renewals pending taxes and insurance, raffle permits for local organizations and an application to Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation for funds to assist redevelopment of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church social hall at 701 E. 40th St.
Councillor Hoffman Sockerman moved to approve the consent agenda and the motion carried after a brief clarification about the wording in the street sweeper lease.
What happens next: the approved payments will be processed and the mayor is authorized to execute the grant application and permit paperwork where applicable.
