During public comment at the Wayne County Commission meeting on Feb. 19, a Zoom participant identified only as Yolanda criticized the county’s Oracle procurement system and urged that problems be addressed.
Yolanda said county staff are "having continual issues" with Oracle and described repeated workflows that require redoing work. "Oracle is not easy to navigate," she said. She reported difficulties obtaining purchase orders necessary to pay vendors and said some Jira tickets remain open. "My inventory is going to be horrific because we can't get things processed in the Oracle system," Yolanda warned.
Yolanda also said she had previously been "censored" when attempting to raise these issues and that staffing turnover had been affected; she said she planned to continue working through the transition despite frustrations.
The chair acknowledged the comment and said administration "hears you loud and clear." No technical fix or timeline was presented during the meeting.
The exchange was limited to public comment and did not result in a formal directive recorded in the meeting minutes; commissioners and administration representatives did not provide a specific remedial plan on the record during this session.
