The Ione City Council voted Feb. 17 to adopt an updated Parks and Recreation fee schedule intended to simplify customer transactions and clarify what facility uses are permitted.
Parks staff presented the changes, saying the previous schedule used percentage deposits that confused the public and front‑desk staff. "Mostly, what was changed is in the previous fee schedule, it had it listed as a percentage for your deposit, which is very confusing for the public and for the front desk," the presenter said. The new schedule lists fixed deposit amounts and adds weekday hourly rental rates so users can book venues by the hour rather than reserving an entire facility for short events.
The update also clarifies that certain vendor activities (for example dentistry, farrier services and similar single‑service vendors) are limited to parking‑lot use and are not treated as clinic events, the staff report said.
Council members and members of the public asked clarifying questions about amphitheater pricing, arena lighting and a proposed timer to reduce after‑hours lighting. After brief discussion the council moved to adopt the updated schedule; the motion carried unanimously.
Next steps: Staff said they will monitor the new schedule and suggested revisiting percentage or discount policies after six months or a year if needed.
